Nuriddin Ismoilov re-elected as Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber
Nuriddin Ismoilov has been re-elected as Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Uzbekistan’s lower house of parliament. The decision was made through a secret ballot during a parliamentary session.

Ismoilov, representing the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU), has served as Speaker since January 2015. He first succeeded Dilorom Tashmukhamedova in the role and was subsequently re-elected in 2020. Known for his extensive legal expertise, Ismoilov, born in 1959, holds a degree in law from Tashkent State University and is a candidate of legal sciences.
Before assuming the speakership, Ismoilov held significant roles in Uzbekistan’s political landscape. From 2012, he served as a presidential state advisor, facilitating interactions with the Oliy Majlis and civil society organizations. Earlier, in 2005, he chaired the Legislative Chamber’s Committee on Legislation and Judicial-Legal Affairs, further establishing his prominence in the legislative domain.
Ismoilov’s reappointment reflects confidence in his leadership and his alignment with the country’s legislative priorities. Under his guidance, the Legislative Chamber has played a pivotal role in advancing legal reforms and addressing critical socio-economic challenges.
