Over 100,000 citizens penalized for administrative offenses in Q1 2025 – Courts list most common violations
In the first quarter of 2025, Uzbekistan’s criminal courts reviewed 138,557 cases involving 162,665 individuals. Of these, 105,418 people received administrative penalties.
According to the Supreme Court, 19,201 individuals were released from liability due to reconciliation between the parties involved. The majority of cases concerned the following types of offenses:
- Petty hooliganism
- Disobedience to lawful demands of law enforcement officers
- Unlicensed passenger transportation by motor vehicles
- Violations of rules regarding the use of electricity, heating, and gas
- Insult or verbal abuse
- Traffic violations resulting in minor bodily harm or significant material damage
- Breach of regulations on trade and service provision
- Consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
- Carrying bladed weapons or items that may be used as such
A total of 1,632 cases involving 1,924 individuals were reviewed on appeal. First-instance court decisions were overturned for 637 individuals and modified for 577.
In cassation, 2,380 cases involving 2,540 individuals were reviewed. Rulings were overturned in 1,021 cases and amended in 625 cases.
