The Chinese company Chjenzyan Zinlun Elektromechanic has expressed interest in localizing the production of equipment for small and micro hydropower plants in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region, according to the presidential press service. The investor also offered to provide free maintenance services for the hydropower plants for one year.

At a recent meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the launch of 763 small hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 44 MW by the end of 2026 to supply electricity to 38,000 families in the region.

The Executive Director of Chjenzyan Zinlun Elektromechanic for Central Asia told Uzbekistan24 that the company plans to focus on three key areas: attracting research centers, increasing the localization of equipment production, and training specialists to maintain imported equipment.

Recently, the president also announced a large-scale urban development and construction initiative in Babur City. As noted, many investors have expressed interest in taking part in the creation of the new city.

Among them, an unnamed Chinese investor plans to invest $250 million in the construction of a multi-functional complex. According to the project, the 55-hectare site will include a business center, hotel, shopping malls, and residential buildings with 3,000 apartments.

The head of state instructed responsible officials to intensify efforts to attract investment, establish close cooperation with investors, and provide them with all necessary conditions.
