Tashkent judge allegedly stole car while drunk: Investigation launched
A judge from the Mirobod District Criminal Court in Tashkent is alleged to have committed the crime of unlawfully taking a vehicle. The Supreme Judicial Council has announced that an internal investigation is underway concerning the judge’s conduct.

Reports have circulated on social media claiming that the judge took the car while under the influence of alcohol. According to Kun.uz’s verification, the individual involved is Rustam Rakhmonov, a judge at the Mirobod District Criminal Court.
The Supreme Judicial Council issued an official statement regarding the incident, confirming that an internal review has been launched into the judge’s behavior.
“Based on the requirements of the Judicial Code of Ethics, an internal investigation is being conducted into the actions of the judge of the Mirobod District Criminal Court of Tashkent City, which occurred outside of working hours. The circumstances mentioned in social media posts regarding this matter will be clarified during the investigation process, and appropriate measures will be taken based on the results,” the statement said.
In December 2024, Rustam Rakhmonov was reappointed to a new 10-year term as judge of the Mirobod District Criminal Court.
For reference, under Article 267 of the Criminal Code, unlawful seizure of a vehicle is punishable by imprisonment ranging from 5 to 20 years.
