The Tashkent Metro administration has responded to a recent statement by Javlon Abdullayev, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, who raised concerns about morning crowding and train delays at the Chilanzar, Pakhtakor, and Beruniy stations between 07:30 and 09:00. According to the deputy, due to heavy congestion during this time, passengers in a hurry to get to work or school are forced to let 7 to 8 trains pass, which undermines public trust in the transportation system.

According to metro authorities, the number of daily passengers was 280,000–300,000 in 2021, increased to 920,000–930,000 in 2024, and now exceeds one million.

To address growing demand and prevent overcrowding during peak hours, the train intervals have been reduced over the past three years:

  • Chilanzar Line: from 5 minutes (16 trains in 2021) to 1.5 minutes (28 trains in 2024)
  • Uzbekistan Line: from 6 to 3 minutes (9 → 16 trains)
  • Yunusabad Line: from 11 to 4 minutes (6 → 11 trains)
  • Above-ground Circular Line: from 12 to 9 minutes (5 → 11 trains)

Prior to 2021, only 36 trains operated across the network. With the purchase of 41 trains over the last three years, the fleet has increased to 75. In 2025, the metro plans to acquire an additional 56 modern metro carriages, which will help renew the fleet and further reduce intervals between trains on various lines.

The Metro administration also urged passengers to follow metro rules, show mutual respect, and avoid standing near train doors until others have exited the carriages.
