According to the Tashkent city prosecutor’s office, more than half of student-related crimes are committed by students of state-run universities, including the Transport, Technical, and National universities.

The Tashkent city prosecutor’s office held an expanded meeting focused on youth engagement in educational institutions, student upbringing, and the prevention of offenses and crimes among young people.

At the meeting, data on crime among students of higher education institutions in the capital was presented.

The majority of these offenses were traffic-related incidents — 72 cases (21.5%). These were followed by theft (57 cases), drug-related offenses (46), and cases of bodily harm (41). There were also instances of robbery, assault, and hooliganism.

Of the total number of recorded crimes, most were committed by students of state universities — 179 individuals, or 53%.

Leading the list were:

  • Transport University – 27 cases
  • Technical University – 21
  • National University – 20
  • Economic University – 19
