Ukraine imposes sanctions on three Uzbek companies

Ukraine has added three Uzbekistan-based companies to its sanctions list: Mercury Renaissance, its affiliated entity Fergana Chemical Plant, and Raw Materials Cellulose LLC. Additionally, Rustam Muminov, identified as holding both Uzbek and Russian citizenship, has also been sanctioned.

The Ukrainian government has imposed sanctions on several companies registered in Russia, China, Iran, Belarus, and Uzbekistan, as stipulated in a decree signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Among the 67 Russian companies included in the list are seven foreign legal entities, three of which operate in Uzbekistan. The list also includes one Uzbek citizen.

One of the sanctioned companies is Mercury Renaissance LLC, registered in Tashkent in 2016. The company specializes in leasing and renting construction machinery and equipment. Its founders are Rustam Muminov (60%) and Shahriyor Tojiev (40%).

The second company, Raw Materials Cellulose LLC, is located in the Jizzakh region and specializes in the production of paper pulp and cellulose. Its founders are Larisa Utkina (76%) and Larisa Bikova (24%).

The third entity is Fergana Chemical Plant LLC, also engaged in cellulose production and operating as part of Mercury Renaissance.

The Ukrainian government has simultaneously imposed individual sanctions on Rustam Muminov, who is reported to hold both Uzbek and Russian citizenship.

The sanctions are set to last for 10 years and include freezing assets located in Ukraine, revoking licenses, banning trade agreements, halting cultural exchanges, and suspending scientific cooperation.
