No plans to hand over Uzbekistan’s pension system to private sector – Agency for Strategic Reforms
The Agency for Strategic Reforms (ASR) of Uzbekistan has clarified that proposals to introduce private pension funds do not imply abandoning the state pension system.

As it was previously reported, members of the International Advisory Council recently made several recommendations regarding Uzbekistan’s pension reform, including the potential establishment of private pension funds.
The ASR addressed discussions circulating on social media in response to these proposals. The agency stressed that claims suggesting plans to transfer the national pension system to the private sector are unfounded.
“The proposal to involve the private sector in the pension system does not imply the abolition of the state Pension Fund,” the agency stated.
According to the ASR, the recommendation was voiced by international experts during a discussion on possible directions for pension reform. All proposals are currently under review by the ASR and other responsible bodies.
The agency assured that any planned reforms to the pension system will be based on a thorough analysis of international experience and will mandatorily take into account the views and interests of citizens. The proposals will be aimed strictly at enhancing social protection, the agency emphasized.
