Korea funds statistical reforms in Uzbekistan with $3.8 million grant

The National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan and the Statistics Korea agency of the Republic of Korea have launched the “Statistical Capacity Building” project. Funded by a $3.8 million grant within the Korean government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) program, the project aims to modernize Uzbekistan’s statistical system by introducing digital technologies and international best practices.

Currently, representatives from Statistics Korea are visiting Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee to finalize key components of the project. Particular emphasis is being placed on capacity building for personnel. As part of this effort, training courses will be organized both in Korea and Uzbekistan for the committee’s staff. In addition, modern classrooms equipped with computers and audio systems will be established at the Institute for Advanced Training and Statistical Research.

The project will introduce a Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) system, which will allow for faster and more accurate sample-based surveys.

Furthermore, a system for managing administrative data will be developed, enabling integration of data across government agencies and facilitating statistical analysis through automated and reliable platforms.
