Uzbekistan finalizes WTO accession talks with the UK
The United Kingdom has become the 24th country with which Uzbekistan has successfully completed market access negotiations as part of its bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to Azizbek Urunov, the Special Representative of the President on WTO Affairs.

“At the end of last month, we conducted bilateral negotiations with the UK team in London. I am pleased to announce their completion. Since then, we have completed internal procedures to sign the protocol at the 10th Working Party meeting in Geneva on June 12, 2025,” Urunov wrote.
He noted that the UK is the 24th WTO member with whom market access talks have been finalized. “Only a few WTO members remain with whom bilateral negotiations still need to be completed,” he added.
In February, the United Kingdom expressed its support for Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO. Following their meeting, both sides agreed to expand technical assistance to facilitate Uzbekistan's membership.
As of May, Uzbekistan had held bilateral negotiations on market access with 33 countries, successfully concluding talks with 24 of them. The remaining nine are expected to wrap up discussions by the end of this year.
