Tokayev proposes holding next OTS summit in Turkistan

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed hosting the next informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Turkistan. He made this announcement during a meeting with the heads of parliaments of member states of TurkPA (the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States).

“The recent informal summit of the heads of state in Hungary was productive. Kazakhstan is always interested in continuing this positive momentum. In this regard, I proposed to hold the next summit in Turkistan,” said Tokayev.

The Kazakh president expressed support for initiatives by the Kazakh Parliamentary Assembly and reaffirmed the country’s readiness to contribute to Turkic integration.

“Kazakhstan is one of the founding members of the Organization of Turkic States. We believe this structure plays a special role in the economic, cultural, and humanitarian development of our countries. Its potential should be harnessed to achieve the common goals of our peoples,” Tokayev emphasized.

He also noted that Kazakhstan highly values the outcomes of OTS summits and places great importance on the effective implementation of the agreements reached during these events.

“The adoption of a unified Turkic alphabet can be considered a historic event,” Tokayev added.

The informal summit of the OTS was most recently held on May 21 in Hungary, and was attended by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, among other leaders.
