Antimonopoly Committee takes action against pharmacies for unjustified price hikes

The Committee investigated violations of the legally established retail markups on medications sold at pharmacies through the Fair Tech unified information system. Based on notifications received through the system, inspections carried out in 2025 revealed that 225 pharmacies had committed 62,704 violations in drug pricing, resulting in over 2.6 billion UZS in unjustified revenue. Legal proceedings were initiated, and relevant actions were taken to return the funds.

Specifically, in the wholesale segment, the following violations were recorded:

• 1,744 cases involving Evro Farm Biznes LLC JV
• 1,695 cases involving Tar Pharm Alliance LLC
• 5,191 cases involving Garmoniya Farm LLC

Due to signs of unjustified price increases, the Committee’s special commission has initiated proceedings against these companies.

The Antimonopoly Committee has warned that pharmacies selling prescription drugs at prices exceeding the regulated limits will face strict action.

Earlier in 2025, during monitoring of reference price increases by pharmaceutical business entities, violations were found at nearly 1,300 pharmacies. In the first seven months of 2024, consumers were overcharged by nearly 5.4 billion UZS due to unjustified price hikes. Measures were taken to recalculate and return the unlawfully obtained funds to consumers, thereby restoring their rights.

A system for refunding overpaid amounts to consumers has been in operation since May 1, 2023. If it is found that a pharmacy charged above the allowable markup for medicines or medical products, the excess amount is to be refunded. When a consumer registers the QR code of a purchase receipt in the “Soliq” mobile app, and if overpricing is detected, the system automatically notifies the Antimonopoly Committee and triggers the refund process to the consumer.
