Labor inspectors recover nearly 130 billion UZS in unpaid wages for over 10,000 workers
Since the beginning of this year, wages and compensation payments amounting to nearly UZS 130 billion have been recovered for more than 10,000 workers in Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the State Labor Inspectorate is responsible for overseeing compliance with labor and occupational safety legislation through inspections and monitoring.
In the first half of this year, the Inspectorate’s oversight activities resulted in the recovery of UZS 129.769 billion in wages and equivalent payments owed to 10,501 employees.
Breakdown of the recovered amounts:
– UZS 109.106 billion was recovered through the intervention of state labor inspectors.
– UZS 20.663 billion was recovered through the courts.
The Ministry noted that these violations were committed by a wide range of employers, including both large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Legal expert Saidali Mukhtoraliyev emphasized that unlawfully dismissing a civil servant can now have significant financial consequences for managers. He pointed to Article 51 of the Law “On the Civil Service,” which outlines the consequences of the unlawful termination of a civil servant’s employment.
According to the article:
– If a civil servant is reinstated after an unlawful dismissal, any damages caused by the termination must be compensated using funds from the state budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
– The person found responsible for the unlawful dismissal will be held liable in accordance with the law. The amount of damage paid from the budget will be recovered from the guilty party through a process of recourse.
Mukhtoraliyev noted that now that these legal norms are actively enforced, every sum paid from the state budget due to unlawful dismissals will be accounted for in detail. Every penny will be recouped from the responsible person’s pocket through legal recourse, he said.
