Uzbekistan and Russia approve over 1,000 weekly flights under new air agreement
The transport ministries of Uzbekistan and Russia have reached new agreements to significantly increase air travel between the two countries.

On July 21–22, aviation authorities from Uzbekistan and Russia held negotiations in Moscow to discuss the development of bilateral air services, according to a statement from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport.
Delegations from both countries' transport ministries and representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia participated in the talks. The discussions focused on increasing the number of existing flights, expanding the range of destinations, and granting the necessary permissions to airlines from both sides.
As a result of the negotiations, a series of agreements were reached. Specifically, designated airlines from each country have been granted the right to operate the following number of weekly flights:
- Tashkent – Moscow: 50 flights each (total of 100 flights)
- Samarkand – Moscow: 23 flights each (total of 46 flights)
- Bukhara – Moscow, Urgench – Moscow, Fergana – Moscow, Namangan – Moscow: 14 flights each (total of 112 flights)
- Tashkent – St. Petersburg, Tashkent – Krasnoyarsk, Tashkent – Sochi: 14 flights each (total of 42 flights)
- Termez – Moscow: 10 flights each (total of 20 flights)
In addition, the sides agreed to permit seven weekly flights in all directions from other cities, as follows:
- Russian carriers may operate from their 80 international airports to all international airports in Uzbekistan (total of 560 flights)
- Uzbek carriers may operate from all international airports in Uzbekistan to 29 major international airports across Russia (total of 203 flights)
Each airline has also been granted the right to choose up to five cities for “triangle” flights, which connect three destinations, without restrictions on the number of carriers allowed on those routes.
Under this agreement, airlines from both countries are now authorized to operate more than 1,000 weekly flights, with the potential to serve a wide range of cities effectively.
For reference, there are currently more than 310 scheduled weekly flights between the two countries.
