Two men die following a mass food poisoning in Namangan

On October 21, two people died and six had to be sent to the intensive care unit of the central hospital in Chust district, Namagan region, following a mass food poisoning, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
According to several eye-witnesses, around thirty visitors of a local canteen in Chust district were poisoned and delivered to the infectious disease ward of the hospital.
“Last Sunday, the district hospital was overcrowded with poisoned patients. Some say 9 people died and dozens badly hurt,” said one of the residents of Chust district.
An anonymous doctor at the local hospital reported on the death of two people who had been poisoned in the canteen near the local market. "A real panic has risen in our area. Six of the poisoned are in serious condition, located in the intensive care unit. Another thirty people were hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital.”
It is said that several specialists were called from Namangan region and Tashkent.
Zayliddin Anarkulov, the chief doctor of Chust district sanitary and epidemiological surveillance center, said that the locals were diagnosed with intestinal yersiniosis (an infectious disease).
