MITC: Mobile coverage of settlements reached 98%

To date, more than 31.7 thousand mobile base stations have been installed and put into operation throughout Uzbekistan, the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications said.

As a result, the level of mobile coverage of settlements in the republic reached 98%. This year, it is planned to increase the total number of stations to 33.7 thousand, and thereby bring the level of mobile coverage to 99%.

If until 2020 work was mainly carried out to expand mobile networks, now projects are being implemented to expand the coverage and provide Internet services based on 3G/4G technologies. In particular, in 2020, 3,600 2G base stations were upgraded to 3G/4G standards and 5,641 new stations were installed and put into operation.
