Passengers in Tashkent may face fines for cash payments on buses

Starting from January 1, cash payments for bus rides are prohibited in Tashkent, and passengers attempting to pay with cash after repeated violations may face administrative penalties, with both the passenger and the driver potentially being held accountable.

According to Salimjon Nishonboev, an inspector at the Tashkent City Territorial Transport Inspection, drivers are required to refuse cash payments from passengers.

"The Transport Inspection monitors compliance with this rule. A warning will be issued for the first violation. If the violation is repeated, both the passenger and the driver will be subject to an administrative protocol in accordance with the law," explained Nishonboev.

The protocol will be based on Article 144 (fare evasion) and Article 145 (unlawful transportation of passengers) of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Passengers could face a fine of 1/10 of the Base Calculation Value (approximately 37,500 UZS).

Additionally, the joint-stock company "Toshshahartransxizmat" has installed surveillance cameras on all buses to monitor compliance with the new regulation.
