Uzbekistan’s car production grows by 6.8% YoY

From January to April 2025, Uzbekistan witnessed a marked increase in automobile manufacturing, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

A total of 122,380 passenger cars were produced during this period — a 6.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Chevrolet Cobalt accounted for one in every three cars produced, with production rising by 7.3% to 44,740 units.

Damas ranked second, with 29,900 units manufactured, showing a notable 28.9% increase. Meanwhile, production of Chery and Chevrolet Tracker continued to decline, down by 20.6% and 18% respectively — totaling 2,773 and 14,090 units.

Onix production rose sharply by 31.6% to 15,230 vehicles. Kia posted a more than 41% growth, reaching 8,680 units. Haval saw the most dramatic surge — its output increased 11.5 times to 2,634 units. Additionally, BYD’s plant in Jizzakh Region produced 4,267 electric vehicles.

According to Uzavtosanoat, over 106,800 cars were sold in the first four months of 2025. UzAuto Motors maintained a leading market share of 55.6%, followed by Khorezm Auto (26.9%), ADM Jizzakh (11.3%), and BYD Uzbekistan Factory (5.6%). Combined, the remaining three manufacturers accounted for less than 0.6% of the market.

In terms of brands, Chevrolet remained dominant with over 88,210 vehicles sold — more than half of which were Cobalt cars. Kia followed with 7,360 cars, while BYD sold 5,953 electric vehicles. Chery and Haval rounded out the top five, selling 2,633 and 2,127 cars respectively.

Looking at specific models, the top five were Chevrolet Cobalt, Damas, Tracker, Labo, and Onix — together making up over 81.7% of total car sales. Other popular models included the Kia Sonet, three BYD models, and the Haval M6.
